Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American journalist. She is currently a sportscaster for ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. Her mother is Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta was bilingual by the time she turned nine. This ability which helped her obtain her first job as a Univision production assistant in Miami. There, she collaborated with producers for television shows that were national, like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The next position she was offered was a Sports Reporter at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. Her move from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. She covered stories about immigration and drug trafficking across both Texas and Mexico. She was also often asked to serve as an anchor for weather and sports. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she is more responsible. She did pieces on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She was promoted to sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. Also, she was anchor of the sports segment in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. Eventually, they settled in Mexico City and she was born on the 22nd of November the 22nd of November, 1985. There is an older sister. There is an older sibling. Her parents divorced soon after and her mother got married to one of the naval architects named Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. On a trip Antonietta was staying at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed the job of his dreams. Antonietta was a senior in high school but she was clear about the career she was looking for. So while assessing if Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta visited the campus. In the end, she fell in love with the university. They also offered her a an academic major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University with a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she's a member. They developed a close connection. Mark's passion for journalism and confidence in her own abilities encouraged her. In turn, she, tried to meet the standards he set and to not let him down.
